Carbon-Ukraine synthesizes MAX phase powders whose composition is chosen for MXene synthesis: each phase is the precursor of a specific MXene, and its composition and particle size are controlled before etching starts. The same materials serve research on electronic, electrochemical, structural and biomedical applications.

We have supplied MAX phases and MXenes to more than 300 universities, research laboratories and companies worldwide, within joint R&D projects and custom orders.

Particle size and forms

  • Powders sieved to ≤ 200 µm, ≤ 100 µm or ≤ 40 µm
  • Bulk material
  • Solid samples and targets, made to order
  • Custom compositions for experimental studies, made to order

The minimum order for Ti3AlC2 powder (CAS 196506-01-1) is 25 g. MSDS and certificate of analysis (COA) are available on request.

What MAX phases are

MAX phases are layered ternary carbides and nitrides that combine metallic and ceramic properties: high electrical and thermal conductivity, oxidation resistance and mechanical stability. Their layered structure is what makes selective etching of the A element, and so MXene synthesis, possible.

Where they are used

  • MXene synthesis by selective etching
  • Electronics and advanced coatings
  • Electrocatalysis and supercapacitor electrodes
  • Structural ceramics and composites
  • Biomedical and environmental research
